Topics include theoretical and numerical studies of different aspects of light generation, control and detections in micro- and nano-structured materials, including but not limited to general inhomogeneous media, plasmonic structures, metamaterials, biological systems, photonic crystals, integrated optics components and systems.

We are interested in new results as well as in discussions concerning current difficulties and challenges in:

  • Classical wave theory: wave propagation, diffraction, interference
  • Semiclassical optics and optics of mesoscopic systems: spontaneous and stimulated emission, light matter interaction, light detection
  • Quantum theory of light: quantum optics, quantum noise, quantum detection
  • Computational methods: algorithms, benchmarking, efficiency improvements
