The first International Workshop on Theoretical and Computational Nano-Photonics (TaCoNa-Photonics 2008) took place in the "Physikzentrum Bad Honnef", Bad Honnef, Germany on December 3-5 2008.

72 participants from 20 countries have contributed to the workshop. Topics of the workshop were covered in 2 plenary, 13 invited, 20 contributed oral and 32 poster presentations.

18 selected papers which were submitted by the authors of invited and contributed oral presentations have been published in the Special Section of the November issue of the Journal of Optics A (IOP). This Special Section also includes two papers of the winners of the Best Poster Awards.
